Observer, thinker: reader, writer, lover of beautiful things. I tend to be shy until I get to know people, but I have a wacky sense of humour once I get comfortable with people. I'm fascinated with learning and listening to other perspectives, although I get annoyed if someone tries to force them on me.
I'm wheelchair-bound, a condition which I think has fostered a lot of assumptions in society, some of which I'd like to blog about. I think my handicaps have contributed to my character development, and that I wouldn't be the same person without them. Some of my university professors have agreed with my analysis that I think differently from non-handicapped people, another interesting thing I'd like to blog about.
I am comfortable with respectful questions about my physical condition--meaning that I don't mind satisfying people's curiosity as long as they don't use the opportunity to belittle or make fun of me, or to try to tell me how to think of myself or my condition.
I recently graduated with a degree in English, with emphasis in Professional Writing and Editing, meaning that I am qualified to write all types of business documents, letters and publications, and to edit any kind of written material. I have had a few classes in creative writing as well, but so far have not added that emphasis--nevertheless I plan to attempt to write a novel. I may blog about the experience, as well as bits and pieces of plot and other developments--we'll see.
I am engaged to the love of my life, an Australian, whom I plan to marry and spend the rest of my life with. Because he lives on the other side of the world and because I have friends world-wide, I may blog at unusual hours, but I am fairly reliable about responding to messages, though health issues may delay me.
